Volunteer work
Rovinari is one of the most important communities on ARDR’s map in developing and implementing projects.
During the time with all projects developed by ARDR in Gorj County, volunteers became an important part in Rovinari. With the presence of foreign volunteers in Rovinari the youngsters found out by informal way about the opportunities that a diversity of European programs can offer. Therefore part of the volunteer’s work will be to inform the youngsters and to raise the awareness on the benefits that volunteering brings at personal and professional level. The strengths in carrying out the activities are the involvement of member of community and personal development of each volunteer.
Cultural & free time
In Rovinari the cultural life has a lot of potential, Rovinari being a developed city with Cultural House, Museum and Library. Free time can be spent at the football grounds, pools, gym and aerobic rooms and starting with last year in every winter an ice rink will be located in the center of the City. Mayor from Rovinari organize a lot of activities, Day’s of Rovinari City being the most important event, festivals, concerts.
Learning activities
On arrival, the volunteers will enter in a Capacity Building program for minimum 14 days. During the Capacity Building program they will receive trainings to build their competences on animation, conflict management, project management, group dynamics, community youth development.
They will also be provided with Romanian language classes to have a minimum of language skills that will help them to carry out better their activities and to cope with the community.
Accomodation & food
In Rovinari volunteers will stay in apartments with one room, kitchen and bathroom provided in Social Houses by Mayor. The living conditions respect the minimum of standards, and the volunteers should not expect luxury. They are responsible for maintaining cleanliness and not to damage the things inside the apartment.
For the food, the volunteers will receive a monthly allowance for food and pocket money which they can spend as they want. They are responsible for buying and preparing their food.

.She chose to become a teacher because she likes to work with kids and youths in general.
She is married, has a nice family and very special friends.
She is a teacher in General School nr.3 in Rovinari and it was a great deal for her when Regional Association for Rural Development chose her school for welcoming the volunteers. She has met a lot of great volunteers from countries all over Europe.
She has become friends with all of them and with some of them she still keeps contact through emails.
Working with the volunteers, planning activities in and out of the school, very good collaboration with the city hall of Rovinari and local community are a proof that the presence of the volunteers have brought good things in the community. |
